  • 2-1-1 Barometer: Connecticut's Older Adults - Ensuring that older adults remain connected to needed resources is essential to community-based strategies for this growing segment of our population. This 2-1-1 Barometer reviews the thousands of calls 2-1-1 receives annually from older adults or their family members for resources and programs designed to assist older adults, including some interesting United Way initiatives aimed at aging in place.
  • New Directory: 2-1-1 has created a new resource directory for Connecticut veterans, active duty, National Guard and reserves. The directory contains information and resources on benefits assistance, career counseling, case/care management, disease/disability information, food pantries, health screening/diagnostic services, housing information and more. http://www.211ct.org/Documents/vetresources.pdf.

  • 2-1-1 Barometer: Identifying Unmet Needs in Connecticut - United Way 2-1-1 receives over 360,000 calls each year from state residents seeking information and access to services. There are times, however, when resources are not available or callers are not eligible for the services they need. This 2-1-1 Barometer reviews those calls, how they are handled and programs supported by the United Way that seek to assist those with unmet needs.>>

Framework of a Call - When a person calls 2-1-1, a trained 2-1-1 Specialist answers the call, listens carefully, demonstrating interest and concern, and building a relationship with the caller. (more)

New EMPS Website –The state’s Emergency Mobile Psychiatric Service (EMPS) has a new website that allows visitors to locate an EMPS provider in their city or town, request an EMPS presentation, download EMPS materials, and connect to other resources that are available to assist parents and caregivers whose children are experiencing a behavioral or emotional crisis. Visit the new site at www.empsct.org.
