ANIMAL CONTROL OFFICERS

Local Animal Control Officers enforce state and municipal laws concerning animals, investigate dog related incidents, including roaming, nuisance, sick or injured, cruelty complaints, licensing violations, and rabies related complaints concerning dogs and cats. Animal Control Officers will not pick up or respond to stray cat complaints unless their town has a stray cat ordiance. For information on your town's stray cat ordiance call your Animal Control Officer.

The Connecticut Department of Agriculture Animal Control Division enforces all laws and regulations concerning livestock (farm) and domestic animals including cats and dogs. The Animal Control Division answers questions and conducts investigations when dogs or cats have been exposed to rabid animals or when people have been bitten by a dog or cat.
