CONNECTICUT'S SAFE HOMES PROGRAM

The Safe Homes program gives DCF workers the ability to place a child between ages 3 through 12 into a safe, stable environment quickly in an emergency. Once placed in the Safe Home, children will be evaluated and then placed with foster families who can best meet their needs. The purpose of the Safe Home is to reduce disruptions in foster care placements, and to provide a transition period for the child and the foster family during which the child and the family can get to know each other before the placement.
